Tea Tree Is More Than Just A Source For Acne Cure

Defined Tag: Tea Tree.
Mention a tea tree and most people will associate it with the oil that comes from its bark. After all, such oil is desirable in the world market, or at least in alternative medicine circles, as something that helps cure acne, with a high degree of efficiency at that. I asked my 14 year old niece what she thinks of the tree where the oil came from, and her answer was all I needed to know to make the aforementioned claim. "Isn't Tea Tree the name of the brand?" she asked, which invited a chuckle from me.
A deeper study of this tree type, known in Asia and Australia (where its kind grows in abundance) for its majestic size and sappy, spongy bark (from which the oil is derived), would reveal that the tea tree's oil is also used for a variety of medicinal purposes. Among them are treatment for athlete's foot and other fungal infections, halitosis or bad breath (with the oil used as toothpaste or mouth rinse), vaginal yeast infection, and the treatment of wounds so that they won't further suffer from infection.
But the tea tree took a heightened role in the medical field during the early 1990s. Its oil has been proven to reinforce the body's immune system, something that is critical in the quest for a cure against the AIDS virus.
The oil of this tree type did not really originate from its barks. Ancient aborigines from the Australian continent used to squeeze extracts from the tree's leaves to acquire its beneficial oil. This is a testament to how long the said oil has been known for its curative properties. Aborigines, of course, are quite renowned for their rather advanced survival skills. They managed to endure the cruel environment of the Outback using only the elements found in nature's bounties.
Perhaps, the most amazing characteristic of the oil is its ability to totally eliminate a great number of bacteria and viruses. Some circles even claim that the oil is actually more potent than penicillin, better known as antibiotics. Better yet, the oil, being external in its usage, does not cause any harmful side effects.
But the oil is strong, and applying the same in moderation is highly recommended. Too much of the same may - and that's a strong emphasis on "may" - burn the skin, a danger that is best avoided.
Nonetheless, many people thank the tree which they hail as one of the plant kingdom's most prized treasures.
